-Mailed D.L.’s birthday gift. It turns out that 1 day shipping costs the same as 3 day shipping, so seeing as I’d rather have him have it sooner than later, I was grateful to use that. (left a note on it for him not to open until the 7th)
-Hung out with a lot of people, including A.A., A.A., J.C., and E.A. We went to Qdoba, played frisbee, and then went on a ghost tour that E.A. made up. ‘Twas a fun adventure

-Bee sting is completely healed. Guess time was the best medicine
-Went on an adventure to Target with A.A. (the guy). ‘Twas good exercise
-Played Yu-Gi-Oh for the first time in several years with A.A. (he got cards from target). Some things don’t go old…
-Got a card for D.L., a book I think he’ll like, and an empty box. Put all three together, and they add up to me finishing his birthday gift today. Shipping it tomorrow, hopefully it gets to his place in D.C. before his birthday next Thursday…

I don’t usually do this but a bit of reflection on this month. At the very beginning of May, I was scared to death about things that were going to happen and prospects that looked bleak in the future. Now, 31 days later…things have turned around! Everything is going to be OK! everything is going uphill!
Now for today:
-Got all of my textbooks for summer classes way earlier than I had thought. Which means I can catch up on all the reading I have been missing- better now than later.
-Ran into C.A. a fellow 2011-er from my high school (goes to MIT) in Sadler…was good to see him, he was taking summer classes here
-Had pasta from Dominoes- it was pretty good! And they took Flex too, which was nice
-Read an amazing book called Absolute Power by David Baldacci. It’s amazing. Might post a review later…just amazing.
-Stayed off of facebook for a day. Reminds me of the 100 day challenge I did about a year and a half ago. It seems that I…didn’t really miss much (aside from a crucial message from M.L., though I hope he and I can arrange things soon)
-Finally met my roommate >_> We ran into each other outside of the dorm. He said he would be in the room more often…darn, I was happy to have a double to myself =P He seems all right, hopefully we can get to know each other.
In 2003, it transpired that US intelligence services had tortured detainees at Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib with music from Sesame Street.
Human rights researcher Thomas Keenan explains: “Prisoners were forced to put on headphones. They were attached to chairs, headphones were attached to their heads, and they were left alone just with the music for very long periods of time. Sometimes hours, even days on end, listening to repeated loud music.”
“The music was so loud,” says Moazzam Begg, a former detainee at Guantanamo Bay and Bagram. “And it was probably some of the worst torture that they faced.”
Stunned by this abuse of his work, Christopher Cerf was motivated to find out more about how it could happen.

-Bee sting swelling significantly decreased overnight, even the area in the immediate vicinity of the sting is almost clear.
-Very glad I brought my laptop today…turned out for the International Politics class I am taking today was “information dump” day…ended up taking 9 pages of notes (single spaced) in the span of 2 hours. Oy vey, but I am very glad I did not have to hand-write that
-Got two package slips in my CSU today…I was expecting only one. Today of all days the post office was closed for Employee Appreciation Day, so I’ll have to collect them tomorrow
-Found cereal, milk, and hot pockets at the Students X Change…cereal means I will be able to eat breakfast (these past 3 days I’ve been skipping it, mostly because of time). Glad hot pockets are there because I’ve always wanted to have one =P
- Hung out with M.C., A.A., A.A., (both the guy and the girl from Spotswood), and A.S. today for dinner…good seeing dormmates.
-I’m grateful for learning lessons, even if they’re a bit harsh…I suppose I learned yet another one about talking too much today.
When joints/appendages swell, it’s obviously not for a good reason, but after a long hike or something, I’d find that my feet were quite swollen. It’s kinda hard to describe, but I feel that if someone massages/presses the pudgy portions of the swelling, the pain is…squeezed out? It does hurt, but it does feel a bit good, I guess.
Just wanted to muse on that since I am having a similar experience with this bee sting- pressing it, moving my finger around the puncture wound brings temporary comfort to the pain.
The last time something of mine swelled, it was because I got a nasty bug (?) bite in Haiti- for some reason or another my ankle started swelling up one day. One of the Dominican doctors who I was working with put vibuthi on the swollen part and really rubbed it in…it felt so good. Plus the swelling started to go down from that point.
So yeah, TL;DR, massaging swollen/aching joints feels good in a releasing sort of way.

-Classes started off today! I really like International Politics, it looks like it’ll be fun.
-Grateful that I got 2 hours off of class today? One professor didn’t show up…whoops (we all left after waiting for 25 minutes)
-Hung out with A.A. (the guy from my hall in Spotswood, not the girl from Spotswood who also has those initials) for the day, it was great seeing him again.
-I think I called it too soon on this bee sting…there was nasty swelling up earlier today where nearly a third of my palm was this painful red mess…but it’s quieted down a bit now, so I’m grateful for that. Might have to go to the student health center just in case at any rate.
-I am SO GLAD I got the 45 meal plan instead of the 100. Sadler food is…nonexistent during the summer.
-Got a lot of small errands done
